Halloween '11

I made a Mau5head to be Deadmau5 for Halloween last year. I wasn’t sure if I was doing anything this year but seeing the video of Rick Genest in the previous post gave me the inspiration to be the Rico the Zombie Boy for Halloween. Who is Rico the Zombie Boy?

“A picture is worth a thousand words” cannot be more true in this case.

The costume is fairly easy. I guess it’s not really fair to call it as costume because all I did was draw on my face with eyeliner.

The face took about 45 minutes. I had Jenn help me with my neck which took about 15 minutes. I think having the neck done made a big difference. Smearing the eyeliner around certain parts created shadows to give it a more realistic look.

I think I did a pretty good job with my makeup. What do you think?

My favor angle is from the side. The shadows around the jaw and cheek bones really makes it resemble a skull. I went to West Hollywood for the annual Halloween Carnaval. It was my first time going and I didn’t know what to expect except for horrible traffic. Luckily, it didn’t take too long for us to make our way over and park. I was a little bit disappointed because a lot of the attendees did not participate. They were just there to spectate. Towards the end, I saw a few people who were dressed as Rick Genest and Lady Gaga in her “Born This Way” music video. They did a much better job than I did and I wished I had taken a picture with them. We left around 10:30~11:00 and by then it was already getting too crowded and difficult to walk around.

Removing the makeup was another fun part. My face turned all black at first before I could remove it all. I was glad to give my face a much needed breather after all that makeup.
